FAMILY
Born to a very well-known family in Kerala, I have always been surrounded by history, legacy and culture. My great great grandfather, Sir Rama Varma was Maharaja of Cochin from 1914 to 1932. His wife Parukutty Neithyaramma was a very able lady. My other great great grandfather Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair was a Member of the Viceroy’s Privy Council. He was considered, during his heyday, as the most powerful Indian, in India. He was also a President of the Indian National Congress. My other great grandfather Mr. V. K. Aravindaksha Menon was Chief Engineer of Cochin State. He built the Durbar Hall in Cochin and the Town Hall in Trichur and it was during his time that the roads to Munnar, Trichur and Chittur were constructed and macadamised. And my other great grandfather Mr. R. M. Palat was a Minister under self-government. Apart from this my other relatives include diplomats (K. P. S. Menon, P. A Menon), Generals (Lt. Gen. Candeth, Brigadier Sankaran Nair), Privy Councillors (Sir C. Madhavan Nair) and others.
My father is the famous banker and author Raghu Palat. My mother Pushpa Palat, a woman of great strength and many talents was a fabulous travel journalist. My sister Nikhila Palat is a PR maven and owner of Katalyst Reputation Management, her entrepreneurial venture. Her husband Vivan Bhathena is a popular model, photographer and a film actor.
I met my husband, Aditya Hitkari, when I was 16 years old. He is my best friend, my biggest support system and my most vociferous cheerleader ! Aditya Hitkari, was the MD of Hitkari Fibres, an MTV VJ, actor on both stage and film, a well-known model and is the co founder of Balancing Act and my FABULOUS Partner-In-Crime!
The latest addition to our little family is our handsome Marvel Palat- Hitkari the son of Magic , the world’s most perfect ,fluffy little cocker spaniel. Marvel, like his father excels at loving, caring, tearing up random things and being a super naughty and delightful puppy. Magic’s older sister and our first love will always be the gorgeous Cookie Palat!
